yo bee!
I am yo bee! Hailing from Oceanside, Ca. In my youth I expressed my love of music through dance; I had formal training in jazz, ballet, tap, and hip-hop. As I got older my affection for hip-hop grew and I discovered the world of turntablism. I eventually got a turntable and began to teach myself how to scratch by listening to other DJ’s on records and albums, heavily influenced by both West and East coast DJ’s. Eventually, I found myself at a woman-led event at the Beat Junkie Institute of Sound, called Ladies of Sound. After the Ladies of Sound event, I was all in. I began my formal DJ training and became a member of Ladies of Sound. Since then I have had the privilege of rocking stages with many music artists and DJ’s at various events in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. I have been able to explore my creative side by producing my own DJ live stream events that focus more on R&B, Future Beats, and overall eclectic sounds, as well as produce a music podcast. My training with world renowned DJ’s and the backing of my DJ community has given me the confidence to continue on my DJ journey unapologetically in this male dominated industry.
