Local Culture is by far the hottest musical act to come out of Long Beach, CA in quite some time. This talented and impressive group of individuals has created a new breed of World music. Local Culture takes its Polynesian roots and blends Caribbean roots, Dancehall, Lover’s rock, R&B and a little bit of pop and creates a sound that has people of all ages screaming for more. Local Culture was formed in the mid 90’s by the Pua brothers after venturing from their home in New Zealand and settling in Long Beach, CA. The group has quickly begun to gain recognition throughout the region and Local Culture fever is beginning to spread like wildfire. The current members of the group are Lole Pua – Lead vocals & keyboards; David “Vika” Patakai – Lead vocals; John Leilua – Bass; and Robert Alo – Drums. Founding Local Culture Members that played a major part in establishing the band include; Ainiu (Manager), Leo, Roy, Ray, Crushy, Benha,Terry, Fagavao, Sio, and Able. They have established themselves not only as recording artists, but as one of the most sought after “live” performing groups in Southern Cal, “ Hearing the CD was absolutely wonderful, but seeing them perform live was simply outstanding and very entertaining”.
