Doris Anahi

Doris Anahí Muñoz is a Whittier-born, San Bernardino-raised, Los Angeles/Mexico City-based singer-songwriter who has been rooted in the ground where art and activism meet from the start of her career. Doris began her journey as an artist manager and founder of Solidarity For Sanctuary, a concert series that originated from a very personal need to help her own undocumented parents in their legal process, rapidly growing into benefitting immigrants rights organizations from coast to coast. Her story caught the eye of director Isabel Castro, who then created the feature length documentary “Mija” about Doris and her family’s journey, premiering at Sundance 2022. In the same year, Doris released her debut EP “Aprendiendo Por Las Malas” to much acclaim from outlets like Rolling Stone and Billboard, positioning herself as an artist to watch in the eyes of many on the scene. She took the EP on the road across the U.S. and México accompanying both Silvana Estrada and Mon Laferte on prestigious stages such as the Greek Theater in Los Angeles and and the Auditorio GNP in Puebla. The following year she returned to the stage by producing and performing “Canciones de Mi Madre”, a concert honoring Linda Ronstadt’s legendary ranchera album in partnership with the LA Phil at The Ford in September 2023 with headliner Lupita Infante. And in December of 2023, Doris released her follow-up EP “Por Las Buenas,” introduced to the world by Vogue Mexico, and celebrated with shows in her two homes of Mexico City and Los Angeles. Praised for her vulnerability and infectious voice, Doris hits the root of your deepest feelings, and masterfully mixes nostalgia and vulnerability. Speaking to that sensibility, she just released her latest single “Mi Niña” in honor of motherhood with a sold out Dia de las Madres show in LA. She is a recent recipient of the 2024 Latino Spirit Award by the California Latino Legislative Caucus, her hope is to be able to continue to uplift her community through music, storytelling, and advocacy.
