Nu School Jamzz isn’t just your typical live jam band in Hollywood. We are a collective of LA’s
finest musicians and singers. Nu School Jamzz started as a small idea of a uniquely themed
jazz night at The iconic Hotel Cafe in 2021 by Nikia Lee @MadMaven. Now, after 2 years Nu
School has grown into one of the more popular high energy live music nights in Hollywood. Nu
School Jamzz is now playing bi weekly at the Historically known recording studio now turned
restaurant and venue Grandmaster Recorders while occasionally doing pop up shows here and
there.
What does Nu School Jamzz stand for?
We believe that art should be collaborative, not competitive. We do not tolerate negativity or
egos on our stage. We pride ourselves on making sure that everyone that steps onstage feels
welcomed, supported and gives the same respect in return. Once you grace our stage you’re
considered #NuSchoolFamzz and therefore are a representation of who we are and what we
stand for and that includes diversity and inclusivity across the board. This kind of energy
transfers to our audience ensuring they have a great time, while feeling fully welcomed.
Spreading support and kindness is contagious and we hope this can become the norm
throughout the music industry and beyond. Our Night typically consists of 5 members Guitar,
Sax (or brass), Bass, Drums and Keys. We then set a theme each show for the night and we
bring in anywhere from 10-20 singers to choose their song from the theme to pop up and sing.
